The weather forecast for much of the UK was complete rubbish but the Yorkshire coast appeared to be exempt from all the doom and gloom. So off I set to meet Tom Marsh et al at Robins Hood Bay. I drove through lots of clag and grot on the North Yorkshire Moors but my first sight of the Whitby coast basking in sunshine was awe inspiringl.
Don't get me wrong, it was bitterly cold, but with the assistance of an extra layer squeezed under my jacket and a pair of tights under my socks I was fully prepared for the freezing conditions.
As the sun fell the clouds started to gather and presented us with a wonderful light show of pink and blue in the sky and the developing rock pools.
After an hour of inspiring photography we adjourned to the pub and gently thawed out in front of a roaring fire and local brew before bracing ourselves for the steep drag back up the hill.
