The North York Moors
I live 30 miles away from the North York Moors and I especially like to visit in the summer when the heather comes out on the moors. This is another of the National Parks that grace the county and although some areas get very busy, particularly during school holiday periods, it is relatively easy to get away from the crowds and enjoy some solitude.
In addition to the heathery hills there are some lovely villages and spectacular ridges and edges to walk along. I don't visit as often as I should especially as I always love looking at the different characteristics of the many dales in the park.
