After favourable comments from numerous people who have attended my coastal photography talks I am very pleased that I have encouraged people out to the coast to have a go for themselves. My friend Debbie Dixon was recently inspired to visit Marske-By-The-Sea which is the next town north of Saltburn and after a discussion of her photo on Facebook I decided to go there myself.
It features a long sandy beach with views of Redcar and it’s windfarm to the north and the splendid Hunt cliff to the south. Like all the North Yorkshire fishing ports there is also an abandoned boat or two to photograph.
The day I drove up was very sunny and I nearly changed my mind to venture into woodland instead but the call of the sea was too strong and there were some clouds starting to bubble up in the clearest of blue skies.
There were some small waves coming in but nothing spectacular. If it hadn’t been so cold you would have thought it was summer. However, I particularly enjoyed photographing the windfarm and the abandoned boat but there was lots to see and capture. If only I hadn’t got so peckish……
