Lake District in September

In addition to standing and admiring the Langdale Pikes from every conceivable angle I did get out and about elsewhere in the Lake District.  I decided that I would explore some different places which led me to the Duddon Valley and Dovedale (near Brotherswater).  I have to say that I especially fell in love with Dovedale as it is such an intimate valley with a lovely stream and waterfalls.  It was also completely empty until I reached the main path to Dove Head at the top.

My friend Chris Shaw took me round the Duddon Valley and we pottered around Wallowbarrow for about an hour admiring the stream, the erratics and the light dancing in the trees.  I can see why it is her favourite place. (Thanks to Trevor for driving us all day. I wouldn't dare drive my car, Benjy, over those passes with the 1 in 3 inclines).
