Fountains Abbey Christmas Lights - 13 December 2014

Having completed my Christmas shopping in the morning I was looking for something more uplifting than fighting through crowds to stir me into the Christmas spirit.

I decided that I would join the Yorkshire Photo Walk group for their trip to Fountains Abbey to see the Christmas Lights in the cellarium and nave.  It was absolutely fabulous.  All the pillars,  magnificent vaulted roof, down the entire 300 feet structure were lit by every colour of the rainbow.

The best and most unexpected part of the shoot was the brass band which was playing Christmas carols.  It was really inspiring to sing all the carols whilst composing and focussing photographs.

There are various choirs and musical groups playing in the Cellarium before Christmas and I thoroughly recommend a visit if you want to be transported into the festive spirit.
