When I was in Kent with Alex Hare and Lizzie Shepherd we stopped to photograph the pier at Deal. However, I was far more interested in the waves that were rolling onto shore and I spent a wonderful hour trying to capture their character.
Margate and The Kent Coast
I recently ventured south for a workshop with Alex Hare and Lizzie Shepherd with the aim of exploring new locations and enjoying the company of other photographers.
Overstrand Morning
I’ve just returned from a 4 day workshop to the North Norfolk Coast run by Jon Gibbs and we had a wonderful time exploring the little towns and beaches.
One morning we drove off to Overstrand to watch sunrise and it was glorious. We went through the blue period and wet promenades to watching big orange waves being lit up by the early sunlight. At the end of the shoot we captured the shapes of the groynes and seawall which were being lashed by the sea.
Scarista waves
I paid a few visits to Scarista beach when I was staying on the Isle of Harris. It is a wonderful beach with very few people and the most amazing waves breaking onto the steep beach shelf.
Barmston Waves
I have been enjoying different aspects of coastal photography and I've been inspired by Rachel Talibarts 'sirens' photographs of waves. In addition to photographing sand, big skies and piers etc I thought I would like to try photographing breaking waves. There is so much power in the water and I love the point at which the wave develops a sharp edge just before it breaks up into spray.
Splendid Saltwick Bay Sunset
I have been to Saltwick Bay 3 times and on each visit I sensed that there are wonderful photos to be taken but I've never taken any.
A Weekend in Whitby Part 1 - November 21 2014
A change is as good as a rest, or so I've been told. I decided that 6 months is far too long to go without a short break somewhere near the sea side so I booked a weekend away in Whitby.
