Part of our trip around the Italian Lakes involved a visit to Zermatt and the Matterhorn. The coach took us over the Simplon Pass which was very exciting as there had been a fall of snow overnight. There is a restaurant at the summit where we took a pit stop. However, I decided to stay outside in the snow, loaded up with layers and spent 20 minutes running around admiring the views and trying to capture the details in the mountains.
There was a lot of low cloud covering the mountains but quite often the peaks would stick up and proudly show off their new coats of snow. It was cold but magical and I loved every moment.
Whilst editing I decided to add a square crop to most of them to emphasise the details and to convert the images to mono. They look just as lovely in colour but any colour, especially blue sky, distracted my eye and the colours weren’t important.
