Colours of The Maldives

I’ve just spent 5 days on a fabulous resort on the Maldives and loved every moment of my holiday. Not only was the resort a wonderful place to relax but the island was everything I had imagined from my perusal of online videos and photographs.

The sand was white, the sea was green and the sky was a glorious deep blue. I was really pleased that I had my tripod and filters with me as I was able to capture some long exposures at sunset. However, I also realised that attaching my polariser and hand holding my camera produced photographs that truly reflected the colours and shapes in front of me. It meant that I was also able to produce detail that wasn’t available with a longer exposure.

I went out every morning before it got too hot and then I was on patrol at sunset as the sun was magnificent when it sank down to the horizon. The daytime and evening photographs are very different in style but both of them together create a real flavour of my time wandering along the sand in the Maldives.
