I found a wonderful cottage right in the centre of Grasmere which enabled me to embalk on walks right from the front door and be within easy striking distance of my favourite place: Sarah Nelson's Gingerbread Shop.
In addition to photographing sunsets throughout the week ( see Lake District Sunset) I did quite a bit of walking around the Little Langdale Quarries and up on Blea Rigg. I also managed a short trip to Buttermere which is usually compulsory for me as I love it so much.
The quarries around the area of Little Langdale and Hodge Close are fascinating to explore although you have to be incredibly careful when venturing near the edge of the impossibly deep quarries. There are paths won to the bottom of most of them but I haven't ventured down any of them yet. I think I'd prefer to have a photomate with me when I do.
