I’m ashamed to say that until now I have very rarely visited the Yorkshire Dales at the back end of the year and have stayed close to York for my autumnal photo opportunities. However, having a base in the Yorkshire Dales has enabled me to explore new areas and I have discovered that Wensleydale has some wonderful trees and woodland for capturing those rich colours.
A few weeks ago I thought that this year was a poor year for colour but suddenly everything suddenly exploded and there were huge areas of red, green and gold, especially in my favourite corners of Wensleydale.
The beech trees on the edge of the drumlins near Redmire Falls and the nearby woodland were very inspirational especially after the sun came out after spells of rain and I’ve also enjoyed wandering around some of the woods near Hawes which have the advantage of streams running through.
Absolutely Glorious!
